My Neighbor Totoro is the bomb.

Sat Sep 27, 2008, 1:26 AM
Just kind of wanted to say that. It's one of my favorite movies other than Hunt for Red October (yes, even at 19 years old...) Does anyone have any particular feelings one way or another about Totoro? Have you seen it?
Also, am in the middle of fixing up my new dorm room. I have my own bathroom, but I didn't even know I had a shower the first time I inspected the room. The door opens inward to the bathroom, and the shower is so tiny that the door blocks it. O.O Anyhow, there is much more decorating to be had. If I have more time later I'll take pics and upload some.
Loves!

You and your Totoro. Been a long time since I've seen it but remember enjoying it, it's Miyazaki so not enjoying seems impossible.

Nice to get your own bathroom in the dorm, are you in a different building this year?

yeah, i'm in a new one. I'm gonna pimp it out, and the fire hazard inspector's gonna have a shit storm :D all very exciting (no extension cords, fire hazards, power strips etc *rolls eyes* yeah, like that's gonna set a bigger fire than the druggies. Jeez.)

Yeah, we do seem to be a bit of a dying breed, us Miyazaki lovers. I think that you really have to be exposed to Japanese culture or language a bit now in these days... I first saw it in Japanese 1 (high school). I think also that we have to be hardy... I really couldn't care less about how geeky others think I am, and that trait has attracted the majority of my true friends ;) Has Miyazaki retired yet? I heard word that his son was going to take his place...

Nope, he just finished his lastest film, Ponyo on a cliff (??? I think???), this summer. It should be release in America sometime next year... so I am very excited. It is his version of the little mermaid, at least from what I heard. But nothing like the disney verison of course.. :)

His son did make a film a few years ago. Tales of earthsea... not as good as his father but okay.

I can't wait! I hope that it releases in theatres just like Howl's Moving Castle did!!!! Well, it's good to know that he's still in charge. Maybe it's good his son gets his bad work done now in case he does fill in Hayao's shoes... then maybe it'll be just as great!
